Southwest Vacation Feb23 - Death Valley NP

The next stop was the Devil's Golf Course
The Devil's Gold Course. It is aptly named. The ground is jagged, and hard as cement.
|
||||||
This shot gives you a good idea how big and jagged the outcroppings are.

||||||
After seeing the Devil's Golf Course, we headed over to the Natural Bridge trailhead.

We had known that my good friend Dave's wife Jenny was in Death Valley today with her sisters and Mom. But but with no cell coverage, there was no way to arrange a meet. Our only chance was to run into each other somewhere in the park. The odds of that happening were low. We had just started hiking the Natural Bridge Trail and there was Jenny!
We agreed to join Jenny and her group at the Last Kind Words Saloon and Steakhouse at the Furnace Creek Rach that night where we had a very enjoyable evening. Driving the 25 miles from Furnace Creek to Stovepipe Wells after dinner in the dark, we pulled off the road to do some stargazing. The International Dark-Sky Association -- who knew there was such a thing -- has designated Death Valley as a Gold Tier night sky, meaning there's no better location for stargazing. And yes, the sky was filled with stars.
After leaving Jenny, we came to the Natural Bridge.

This is what is known as a dry waterfall.
I don't know what to call this but it's unusual.

||||||
Heading back to the trailhead now.
A nice valley overlook on the way.
